Hawthorn Blue was originally established as a subsidiary company of Corepeople Recruitment, a specialist recruitment consultancy operating throughout Northern England which provides both temporary and permanent staffing solutions to the built environment.

The two founding directors, Bridget Lee and Victoria Storer, aimed to extend the reach and expertise of the group as a whole by entering the executive market with an offering, and through a stand-alone entity, which was genuinely distinct and separate from its holding company.

The name derived from the unusual blue hawthorn, examples of which were to be found in the grounds of Byland Lodge, the former headquarters of Durham City Council, and a close neighbour to the company’s first offices in Harrison House, on the unsurprisingly named Hawthorn Terrace. Further information about Harrison House and its history, from which Hawthorn Blue has used most of the imagery for its branding, including this website, can navigated to from the links on this page.

With such a wealth of experience in the built environment from the outset, and utilising its holding company’s considerable corporate knowledge of the construction and building products arenas, gained over thirty years operating in the same market, the company quickly established itself as a stand-out partner, providing a boutique service which other generalist executive search companies often fail to emulate.

Success has necessitated directing greater resources to providing a service which increasing numbers of clients and candidates demand. To facilitate this, whilst ensuring no dilution of the brand through staff turnover, all directors and senior managers in the group now deliver the Hawthorn Blue offering, as a trading style for all senior level appointments.
